12 Kids Who Care, now entering its 17th year, is WTLV-TV 12's annual program which honors a group of twelve outstanding high school students who enrich their communities by their dedication to volunteer service. Meet these outstanding young people on WTLV, NBC12 Wednesday, June 27 from 8-9pm and on WJXX ABC25 Saturday, July 7 from 7-8pm.

12 Kids Who Care 2006: Peter Sleiman, Jr.  
Bolle's Peter Sleiman uses basketball abilities to change 9 lives. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Shaina Bennett  
From Crescent City Jr/Sr High School, our next 12 Kids Who Care Winnner Shaina has dedicated a good part of her young life to working with kids. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Samuel Shams  
From Flagler Palm Coast High School, Samuel has promoted cross-racial communications and understanding while volunteering in local housing projects. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Lynn Morgan  
Middleburg High's Lynn Morgan works with disabled children in a program involving "animal therapy". 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Patrick Johnson 
Douglas Anderson School of the Arts is the home of Patrick Johnson who was named Boys & Girls Clubs "Youth of the Year" for Northeast Florida. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Juliet Fixel  
This Bartram Trails High student uses her talents to entertain and help others.  
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Thomas Cockriel  
Thomas Cockriel from Mandarin High is majoring in volunteering. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Arriann Moore -  
Representing Brunswick High School, Arriann's goal is to be a pharmacist so she can help immigrants understand their medication. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Natassia Cason  
This Terry Parker student's motto is “Keep the faith, and keep God first.” 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Danielle Leach 
Bishop Kenny's own Danielle Leach headed up the "Operation Smile" program to raise awareness and money for this organization. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Co'Relous Bryant  
Co'Relous from Stanton Prep volunteers his time with the Teen Court Program. 
 
12 Kids Who Care 2006: Nicole Johnson  
The founder of Junior League Juniors, a teenage affiliate of the Junior League and student at Bartram Trail High, Nicole embodies volunteerism.

To nominate someone for "12 Kids Who Care," print both pages of the nomination form and mail it to: 12 Kids Who Care 1070 East Adams Street Jacksonville, FL 32202

Criteria
Nominees must be current high school students, grades 9 through 12. Academics are important, but we are seeking a well-rounded student whose priorities include giving back to his/her community, with a dedication to volunteerism and helping others. Volunteer hours must be above and beyond any school requirements.

An internal panel at First Coast News will select our twelve winners, who will be honored at a reception at the First Coast News Studio in April. A special program will be aired on WTLV-TV 12 in June. WTLV-TV 12 will also produce and air segments, highlighting the work of the 12 KIDS WHO CARE winners during newscasts in June.
